For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. We deliver and coordinate a continuum of high‑quality healthcare with the goal of improving the health of our communities.

Our MRI Technologists perform MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) exams in the hospital by selecting specific software parameters according to established protocols in order to assist the referring physician in diagnosis. The MRI Technologist prepares and positions patients, injects patients with contrast media, and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross‑sectional images of the body.

• Graduate of an accredited Radiography program (ARRT) or graduate from the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) with an Associate Degree focusing on medical imaging, preferably MRI.
• ARRT certification in Radiography OR ARRT MRI or ARMRIT required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
