Plainfield Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and experienced Athletic Director to lead and manage district wide athletic programs for grades 6-12. The Athletic Director plays a vital role in promoting student growth, school spirit, and athletic excellence while ensuring all programs operate in full compliance with district policies and state regulations. This is a 10-month, 198-day position per contract.

Key Responsibilities

* Oversee and coordinate all athletic programs for grades 6-12 across the district

* Develop, manage, and monitor athletic budgets for equipment, travel, and events

* Hire, supervise, evaluate, and mentor coaching staff

* Schedule and coordinate games, practices, transportation, and facility usage

* Ensure compliance with CIAC and state regulations, including eligibility standards

* Promote student participation and uphold academic and athletic integrity

* Manage event operations, safety, discipline, and supervision at athletic events

* Maintain athletic equipment and facilities

* Foster school spirit and positive community and stakeholder engagement

* Manage communications, publicity, and fundraising initiatives

* Provide administrative coverage and district wide support as needed to ensure operational continuity

* Promote Plainfield Public Schools throughout Eastern Connecticut to strengthen community engagement and public image

* Oversee district wide athletic initiatives and physical education assessment protocols

Qualifications

* Valid Connecticut Coaching Permit required

* Must hold a Connecticut Intermediate Administrator and Supervisor Endorsement (092)

* Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills

* Prior experience managing athletic programs and working with student-athletes preferred
