Operations Manager
Job Purpose
The Outbound Manager reports to the General Manager and oversees daily outbound operations, including scheduling departmental hours, managing outbound loading, maintaining warehouse equipment, and ensuring effective warehouse housekeeping. The role focuses on continuous improvement and innovative problem solving while prioritizing labor, documentation, and customer demands.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure all local drivers have freight loaded.
- Process and distribute paperwork from the previous day to appropriate departments.
- Track warehouse customers' inventory via computer and physical counts.
- Work with third‑party logistics to meet or exceed customer needs.
- Schedule outside carriers to pick up warehouse customer orders as directed.
- Manage warehouse personnel and schedules, ensuring proper training and handling employee relations.
- Ensure proper execution of warehouse customer procedures and dock procedures.
- Manage warehouse space and maintain cleanliness at all times.
- Handle billing for all warehouse customers.
- Provide production and labor planning with supervisors, leading daily status updates to meet labor needs and best practices.
- Perform daily facility SQF walk‑throughs.
- Monitor and maintain daily productivity levels.
- Approve FTE and temp time, monitor attendance and overtime.
- Communicate with the leadership team to ensure labor needs and best practices are met and outsource temp labor as needed.
- Maintain positive customer service interactions with internal stakeholders such as HR, customer services, sales, logistics, and operations.
- Conduct weekly equipment maintenance.
- Attend all strategic leadership meetings on a weekly basis.
- Perform monthly KPI tracking, maintain and document facility updates, generate quarterly warehouse reporting, conduct performance reviews, set team goals, and forecast projects in a timely manner.
- Participate in P&L review.
Requires strong management skills to hire, train, coach, mentor, and hold warehouse staff accountable. Must lead or support IT modification projects and maintain an organized, neat, and orderly operation. Must meet or exceed all client KPIs and reporting requirements.
Qualifications- 6 to 10 years of warehouse management experience.
- Ability to report, track, and analyze trending and historical data.
- Strong business writing and case analysis skills.
- Advanced math and financial skills.
- Experience in inventory control and transportation warehouse.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint) and general computer abilities.
- Experience in warehouse safety and safety training.
- College degree preferred or relative experience.
Must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds, use keyboards and buttons, articulate and speak in front of others, work in an indoor office environment with repetitive hand motion, talk, hear, stand and walk frequently, work extended hours when required, handle stressful situations, maintain accuracy and concentration, read and discern visual images on a variety of media, hear speech within normal ranges, communicate clearly over telephones, and have sound physical health as determined by a certified physician with no evidence of controlled substance use.
