Borrower Assistant

The Plainfield Area Public Library has job openings in the Borrower Services Department. This department is primarily responsible for managing the Check Out Desk and maintaining library user accounts.

What you might do in a typical day:

• Welcome patrons and help them navigate all the Library has to offer.
• Answer questions in person or over the phone.
• Check-in and check-out Library items suchas books, DVDs, and the GoGo Gadget collection.
• Deliver books to patrons via our Pick-up Window or locker services.
• Provide assistance to patrons regarding their library accounts.
• Maintains library materials including all book drops, system delivery, holds and shelving.

We are looking for candidates with:

• One year related experience such as customer service or library experience
• Basic computer skills
• Fantastic communication skills
• Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
• Initiative and desire to learn
• Attention to detail and organization
• Ability to work the 24-28 hour schedule including nights and weekends (including Sundays during September through May)
