Salary:

  • No less than $19.70per hour based on verifiable similar experience per the negotiated PASS Agreement

Hours:
  • Full Time: 7 hours per day, 9 months

Job Summary:

The Special Education Paraprofessional is responsible for providing services and supports to the instructional program with specific responsibility for:

  • Assisting the Teacher in a variety of instructional tasks within a self contained setting and a general educational setting.
  • Providing support to students with disabilities within the classroom and around the educational building.
  • Assisting students with communication, scheduling, problem solving and modifications of curriculum;
  • May work with students who require toileting assistance.
  • Adapting classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives
  • Implementing behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts
Description:
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Assists and monitors students across school settings (lunch, recess, specials, restroom, etc).
  • Work with special needs students.
  • Ability to monitor student behavior.
  • Monitor and support transportation needs.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Open to feedback and learning behavior techniques
  • Strong communication skills
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the educational environment.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of staff and students in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
  • One of the following State of Illinois Licenses registered in Will County:
    Paraprofessional (ELS(PARA)), Substitute (SUB), or Professional Educator License (PEL)
  • College transcripts with 60+credit hours or have passed the Work Keys Assessment
