Plainfield Area Public Library has a job opening for an Adult Services Librarian. In this new role, you'll play a key part in our library's mission by providing outreach and resources for our community’s seniors. If you enjoy both collection development and outreach, we want to hear from you. Join us in making a difference!
What you might do in a typical day:- Answer reference, library equipment, and reader advisory questions during a four-hour desk shift.
- Select new materials for the adult large print, non-fiction, foreign language, or music CD collections.
- Attend a community event with the Outreach Services Coordinator to provide resources and programs for seniors in the community.
- Update the Senior Services webpage to reflect new community resources.
- Coordinate with another librarian to plan a senior-interest program.
- Notarize a document.
- Act as the Person In Charge.
- MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution
- One year of experience and/or training in areas applicable to these responsibilities
- Fantastic communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Attention to detail and organization
- Exemplary time management skills
- Interest in collection development, outreach, and senior services
- Ability to work Monday and Tuesday evenings and first weekends
- Hourly rate of $24.77 - $27.39, depending on experience
- Participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund
