Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) Wanted for a Growing Multi-Doctor Practice in Plainfield, IL

Plainfield Veterinary Clinic in Plainfield, IL is looking for a full-time or part-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our experienced and dedicated team.

We are a growing, multi-doctor practice looking for an experienced CVT who is passionate about patient care, enjoys working collaboratively with veterinarians and support staff, and is confident utilizing their technical skills to their fullest potential.

Our ideal candidate is reliable, responsible, highly organized, detail-oriented, and a true team player. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, communicates well with both clients and coworkers, and thrives in a busy veterinary environment.

What You ll Do

As a CVT at Plainfield Veterinary Clinic, you ll have the opportunity to fully utilize your technical training and skills, including:

  • Providing nursing care, triage, and monitoring for patients.
  • Performing venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples.
  • Administering medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Preparing medications, assisting with dosage verification, and filling prescriptions as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Taking and processing digital radiographs.
  • Preparing patients for surgical and dental procedures.
  • Intubating patients and monitoring anesthesia.
  • Assisting veterinarians during surgery.
  • Monitoring patients throughout recovery and providing post-operative care.
  • Performing dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and dental radiographs.
  • Monitoring and caring for sick and hospitalized patients.
  • Assisting with emergency protocols and CPR when necessary.
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough medical records.
  • Educating clients regarding medications, preventative care, surgical instructions, and post-procedure care.
  • Providing client follow-up and callbacks.
  • Maintaining clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment and surgical areas.
  • Working collaboratively with doctors and fellow team members to keep patient care and hospital workflow moving efficiently.
What We re Looking For
  • Current Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) credential in Illinois.
  • Previous clinical experience preferred.
  • Excellent client communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Compassionate and professional approach to patient and client care.
  • Strong team mentality and willingness to support others.
  • Comfortable with computers and veterinary practice management software.
  • Ability to work evenings and some Saturdays.
  • Interest in professional growth and the opportunity to take on additional leadership responsibilities as the practice continues to grow.

Schedule

Full-time or part-time opportunities available. Candidates must be available to work evenings and some Saturdays.
