Job Description

As a Security Officer - Substation Patrol in Plainfield, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer supporting a utilities location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will respond to concerns, document observations, and communicate clearly with site teams and visitors while delivering strong customer service.

What You ll Do
  • Provide customer service to visitors, contractors, and employees by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and communicate updates to site leadership and Allied Universal supervision.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the facility, parking areas, and perimeter to deter unwanted activity. Working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Control access at gates, lobbies, and/or other entry points by verifying identification and authorizations, issuing visitor badges when applicable, and documenting entries and exits.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and other site systems when assigned, and report irregular conditions according to post orders.
  • Complete routine reports, incident documentation, and daily activity logs with clear, factual details.
  • Perform vehicle checks and/or package inspections when required by site policy, and document findings per procedure.
  • Support utility operations by maintaining a visible presence near substations, generation areas, maintenance yards, and/or administrative buildings as assigned, and reporting hazards or suspicious conditions to the appropriate contacts.
  • Assist with contractor and delivery coordination by directing traffic flow, confirming appointment information, and guiding individuals to approved areas.
  • Follow communication protocols, including radio use and escalation guidelines, and participate in drills, briefings, and training as required by Allied Universal and site policy.
Minimum Requirements
  • Client requires proof of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver s license will be required for driving positions only.
