Open Shop Commercial Renovation Contractor — Chicago Suburbs
Cicero Construction Group is an established open shop commercial renovation contractor based in the Chicago suburbs, in business for 55+ years, looking for an experienced Commercial Carpenter to join our team.
We perform commercial renovations, tenant build-outs, office renovations, school work, and institutional projects. Most of our work is private commercial renovation, with limited prevailing wage work.
Most of our projects occur locally, within the Chicagoland area. However, we also occasionally take on regional projects throughout the Midwest.
What We’re Looking ForWe are looking for a carpenter who can anchor our team and help build the future of our company.
We need someone who can do more than just complete assigned tasks. The right person can read plans, think ahead, work independently, troubleshoot field conditions, and help keep projects moving.
This work may require occasional out-of-town travel throughout the region to perform projects that we may take on around the region. Determined on a project-to-project basis.
This position is a good fit for someone who takes pride in their work, is dependable, communicates well, and understands how commercial renovation projects operate.
Responsibilities- Read and work from construction plans and drawings
- Perform commercial carpentry work on renovation and build-out projects
- Complete layout, framing, backing, doors, hardware, casework, ceilings, and finish carpentry tasks
- Work safely and efficiently on active job sites
- Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, and other trades
- Identify issues early and help solve problems in the field
- Think ahead and plan the next steps of the work
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
- Minimum 5 years of Commercial carpentry experience
- Ability to read and understand plans
- Strong layout and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously without constant supervision
- A self-starter attitude
- Reliable transportation is a MUST
- Own basic hand tools
- Good communication skills
- Professional attitude and strong attention to detail
$35–$48 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and ability to work independently.
We are willing to pay a good wage for the right person. Compensation will be based on what you can do, how independently you can work, and the value you bring to the job.
Prevailing wage paid when applicable.
