Job SummaryThe Civil Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in earthmoving, grading, excavation, and site development. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, accurately prepare material and equipment needs, and perform a wide range of tasks related to civil construction. Operators must be skilled in excavation, trenching, pipe installation, grading, back filling, and general site preparation to support foundations, utilities, and concrete work.
Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, backhoes, skid steers, and loaders for earthwork and site development.
- Perform excavation, trenching, pipe laying, back filling, grading, and compaction in accordance with project specifications.
- Assist with site preparation, including foundations, footings, and utility installation.
- Maintain a safe and organized job site, following all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and project managers regarding job progress and needs.
- Uphold quality workmanship and productivity standards across all assigned tasks.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality.
- Safety-focused with an exemplary safety record.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including long hours, weekends, and occasional travel.
- Self-motivated and adaptable to changing priorities and job site conditions.

- Proficiency in operating multiple types of heavy civil construction equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes.
- Understanding of soils, compaction requirements, trench safety, and erosion control.
- Knowledge of project scheduling and the ability to assess potential impacts.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL-A preferred (training available for qualified candidates).
