Position Overview

Plainfield Community Middle School is seeking a dynamic Social Studies Teacher for the upcoming school year. This role combines core social studies instruction (history, civics, geography) with staffing our Literature Lab, where you will provide targeted reading intervention and literacy support for students.

Key Responsibilities

* Teach standards-aligned, engaging social studies lessons to grades 6-8.

* Staff the Literature Lab to provide small-group reading support and comprehension strategies for students needing extra assistance.

* Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including ELL and IEP students.

* Maintain a positive, well-managed classroom culture.

* Collaborate with grade-level teams and communicate regularly with families.

Qualifications

* Must possess a valid State Teaching License in Social Studies.

* Bachelor's degree in Education, History, or a related field.

* Strong background or high interest in literacy instruction and reading intervention.

* Excellent classroom management and relationship-building skills.
