Job Summary
The Manager of Transmission/Generation and Transmission/Distribution Facilities is responsible for direct supervision of an organization of approximately 15 employees and contingent workers in Indiana. They support production electric engineering, design and drafting for Transmission, Transmission/Generation, and Transmission/Distribution facilities, develop relaying one-lines, protection zone diagrams, schemes and wiring, and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements (NESC, NERC, FRCC, public service commission, environmental).
Responsibilities- Provide leadership to accomplish departmental objectives through development, monitoring, and adjustment of operating plans; coach, develop, counsel, and discipline employees.
- Provide resources and expertise to plan, select equipment, design, and support construction for system protection projects.
- Support successful project completion by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, and resolving operational problems.
- Monitor and assess work products to ensure safety, cost‑effectiveness, reliability of service, and high employee and customer satisfaction.
- Control expenses by gathering/submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective action.
- Implement productivity standards and monitor results.
- Motivate employees to stimulate maximum productivity and efficiency.
- Establish employee accountabilities/goals, conduct performance appraisals, and maintain records and files.
- Recruit, select, orient, and train employees for organizational development.
- Develop employees to meet changes in culture and technology.
- Ensure staff adheres to applicable codes and standards and brings subject‑matter expertise into decision‑making for system protection and control engineering and design.
- Provide oversight and assessment to contingent workers and multiple engineering consulting firms.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering and 7+ years of experience.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license (desired).
- Broad knowledge of overall company operations.
- Strong industry contacts and affiliations within Duke Energy.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, decision making, delivering results, and developing employees.
- Strong negotiation, collaboration, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute short and long‑range plans.
- Ability to manage complex transitional issues through innovation and teamwork.
