POSITION SUMMARY
Banning Engineering is seeking a CAD Technician / Designer to produce civil engineering design drawings and construction documents for single family residential, multifamily, commercial, industrial and institutional site development projects across Indiana in support of the private development group. Working under the direction of project engineers and managers, the Technician / Designer translates design concepts into accurate, code-compliant plan sets. This role is well suited to a detail-oriented drafter who is proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, surface modeling and pipe networks and wants to grow within an employee-owned firm that invests in its people.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepare civil site, grading, drainage, and utility plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Develop construction documents, details, and exhibits from engineer markups and design criteria.
- Build and maintain surfaces, alignments, profiles, and corridors within Civil 3D.
- Incorporate survey data and base mapping into design drawings.
- Ensure drawings conform to client, agency, and CAD standards.
- Coordinate with project engineers and survey staff to resolve design conflicts.
- Maintain organized project files and drawing records.
- Assist with quantity takeoffs and exhibit preparation as needed.
- Associate degree in civil engineering technology, drafting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of three years of CAD drafting experience in a civil engineering or land development setting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Working knowledge of civil design and drafting conventions, including grading, drainage, and utilities.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple project drawings concurrently.
- Experience with single family / multifamily residential design and plan production.
