First Call Direct Hire is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Plant Controller to join our Columbus, IN facility. This financial leadership role reports directly to the Director of Accounting and oversees all accounting-related activities across multiple business units. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, working collaboratively within a small team while maintaining flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage all aspects of accounting, including General Ledger, Financial Statements, Cash, Receivables, Inventory, Payables, and Payroll.
- Prepare, review, and reconcile journal entries and accounts for month‑end and year‑end closings.
- Review daily bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
- Support improvements and automation of financial and management information systems.
- Generate financial statements, reports, analyses, and other information as required.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
- Collaborate with management on various projects and business initiatives.
- Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to provide insights into overall business performance.
- Set and implement departmental goals, policies, and operating procedures.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting department staff.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Review daily journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Monitor product costing and manufacturing variances.
- Lead the month‑end close process, including reconciliations and intercompany invoicing.
- Generate monthly financial statements.
- Create financial charts, graphs, and reports as needed.
- Participate in annual physical inventory processes.
- Lead external audit activities.
- Prepare and submit property tax returns and related forms annually.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Minimum of 5 years in a Controller or Senior Accounting role with a proven track record.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and best practices in reporting.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including mentoring staff.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; ability to quickly learn new financial systems.
- Exceptional analytical, problem‑solving, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
