Position: Part-Time Technical Assistant (Hendricks County 911)

Technical Assistant

The Technical Assistant is responsible for assisting the Manager of Support Services (MSS) with the day-to-day duties associated with the Hendricks County 911 (HC911) technical systems, such as radio programming, computer aided dispatch, and updating databases.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with equipment technical needs associated with the Hoosier SAFE-T Public Safety 800 MHz P25 trunked radio systems of Hendricks County
  • Assists with the testing, updating, use of software, mobile and handheld radios associated with public safety (Fire/Law/EMS).
  • Assists various departments using the Public Safety Radio System, such as law enforcement and fire departments and other County departments, including coordinating activities assigned to perform with those agencies.
  • Consults with other HC911 staff, technical personnel of local governments, and has direct contact with vendors.
  • Assists with maintaining computer databases of radio users and their appropriate radio identifiers by working with agencies to obtain current information and entering data into related systems.
  • Assists HC911 Staff with inventory and maintenance coordination of HC911 assets.
  • Maintains awareness of new trends and advances in the field; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
  • In coordination with the MSS, suggests radio system enhancements with a focus on improving officer and firefighter safety.
  • Assists with maintaining the integrity of all encryption keys utilized in Hendricks County when programming keys into radios, keeping record of all activities involving encryption key programming.
  • Assists with programming templates into radios, radio updates, and radio management software job processing as assigned.
  • Assists with technical support to include but not limited to alignment of radios and radio troubleshooting.
  • Assists with GIS and CAD programming as assigned.
  • Respond to support requests via ticketing system as assigned.
  • Attend meetings as assigned.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
