Operations Manager
Responsibilities
- Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and the Fulfillment Center (FC) to meet and exceed business plans.
- Ensure overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience for either Inbound or Outbound operations.
- Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers; measure performance, provide feedback, and hold managers accountable.
- Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, then integrating them into improvement plans for the area.
- Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and within the network.
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT and other Senior Operations Managers) to secure resources for projects and initiatives in the area.
- Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.
- Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
- Walk within the FC and around the area with great frequency; facility spans over a quarter mile in length.
- Stand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.
- Work in construction or distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, and not air‑conditioned.
- Access all building areas safely and without limitation (ascending/descending ladders, stairs, gangways).
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 7+ years direct management experience in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment, including a salaried workforce.
- Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.
- Experience managing the full staffing lifecycle: interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.
- Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
- Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
- Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related field; MBA preferred.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
