The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely, in‑depth troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. The Technician shares knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators and acts as a subject‑matter expert on behalf of the plant in at least one of the following equipment areas: injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers and/or stretch wrappers.

The Technician performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment such as chillers, air compressors, reverse osmosis, other water filtration equipment and general maintenance of the plant. The Technician works directly with maintenance technicians, machine operators, supervisors, and managers to resolve mechanical issues, develops and implements best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies, and champions continuous improvement efforts through preventative and predictive maintenance processes.

The Technician also assists with training in their designated focus areas.

Essential Functions
  • Adhere to and enforce highest standards in safety and good manufacturing practices plant‑wide.
  • Train and lead operators, mechanics and supervisors on technical procedures related to high‑speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Work directly with plant leadership to develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and the resolution of re‑occurring problems.
  • Rapidly identify machine problems to minimize equipment downtime with root cause analysis conducted to prevent re‑occurrence.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross‑functional problems.
  • Use available software systems to analyze and identify issues to drive throughput performance.
  • Define requirements and lead overhaul efforts to rebuild equipment to like‑new status during planned downtime.
  • Transfer knowledge to Niagara team members to develop operating and troubleshooting procedures in specialized bottling production areas, including blow molding, filling/capping, labeling, and dry‑end packaging.
  • Machine set‑up required for all pack size changes.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives and effective use of OEM equipment such as Krones, Sidel, KHS, Sacmi, and Tech.
  • Maintain high reliability and mean time between failures of production equipment.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • 6years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 6years of experience in a maintenance role.
  • 4years of experience managing people or projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and resolve issues across multiple departments and levels.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong reading and interpretation of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Skilled with shop equipment, precision measuring tools, and basic fabrications.
  • Willingness to be a technical leader and trainer within a specific area of the plant or machine center.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 10+years of experience in a position involving people or project management.
  • Minimum 4years experience in blow molding, injection molding, packaging or beverage.
  • 4years of experience with Krones, Husky, Sidel or other packaging/bottling equipment.
  • Leadership experience in machine repair and continuous improvement.
  • Fabrication skills including MIG, TIG or stick welding.
  • Electrical expertise with 480

    VAC, 24

    VDC, PLC, VFD, servo motors and communication systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret process and instrumentation schematics.
