Job SummaryProvide occupational health and first aid case management services at assigned Duke Energy locations, assessing, planning, and delivering first aid care to employees while preventing OSHA recordable events. This role includes conducting physical examinations, maintaining confidential medical records, and serving as a resource for employees’ health and wellness needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform physical examinations, assess medical conditions, and determine medical clearance or referrals in accordance with NRC, OSHA, and CMD directives.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct occupational health examinations and medical testing to meet business and regulatory requirements.
- Document all medical examinations, tests, consultations, and evaluations, and maintain confidential employee medical files.
- Assess injuries and illnesses, provide appropriate first aid or basic life support, and document each treatment or contact until resolved.
- Notify internal and external stakeholders—including workers’ compensation, vendor management, and off‑site medical facilities—of injuries and treatment outcomes.
- Serve as a resource for employees with personal health, wellness, and EAP referrals and review return‑to‑work documentation.
- Communicate health information through written materials, presentations, ergonomic evaluations, and participation in safety meetings.
- Travel as needed, including overnight deployments and support of special events, to assess employees across the organization.
- Associate’s degree in Nursing and two years of occupational health or hospital experience.
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Knowledge of ADA, FMLA, OSHA, WC laws, HIPAA requirements, and NRC regulations (Nuclear).
- Proficiency with computers, MS Office, and occupational health data systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong interpersonal skills.
- Preferred: BSN, experience with audiometric and spirometry testing, Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN).
15–25% travel, including overnight deployments for emergency deployments, special events, and training.
Additional Information- Work primarily during day shift, with emergency call‑out duty during outages, storms, weekends, and special events.
- Basic functions performed in a medical office; emergency work may be performed during outages.
- Interstate highway travel is required to provide first aid and case management at remote sites.
