Position: Seasonal Parks Maintenance (Minimum 18 years old)

Overview

$1 an hour increase when working on Saturday or Sunday

The Parks Maintenance Operator is responsible for performing a variety of semi-skilled to skilled maintenance work and operates a multitude of different equipment to maintain the Town’s parks and trails.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains the Town’s parks and trails by mowing grass, weed eating, and trimming trees and bushes, as needed.
  • Maintains all sports fields, e.g. baseball, football, and soccer, by dressing, striping and marking repair of damages to the turf.
  • Cleans restrooms, shelters, gazebos, and other buildings, as assigned.
  • Removes snow and applies salt in the parks, on trails and at the facilities, as assigned.
  • Performs routine playground inspection in all the parks to note and repair and/or replace any non-compliant or damaged playground equipment.
  • Performs routine daily inspection and preventative maintenance on all Parks and Recreation-owned equipment and reports needed repairs to the Parks and Recreation Department Supervisor.
  • Reports issues relating to repairs, replacements, and maintenance-related activities.
  • Responds to complaints regarding damaged property in the parks and reports findings to the Parks and Recreation Department Supervisor.
  • Operates trucks and utility trailers of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, mulch, brick dust, gravel and sand.
  • Meets with and/or coordinates with any outside volunteer groups doing work in the parks.
  • Attends meetings, as assigned.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
