Role DescriptionThe Calibration Metrology Technician III is a full-time, on-site role based in Plainfield, IN. This role is responsible for performing calibration, maintenance, and functional testing on a variety of measurement and test equipment used in manufacturing and quality operations, ensuring all instruments meet applicable accuracy and compliance standards. The technician documents calibration results, maintains detailed records in calibration management systems, and supports audits and quality system requirements.
Day-to-day tasks include troubleshooting equipment issues, coordinating calibration schedules, working with production and quality teams to minimize downtime, and assisting in the development and improvement of calibration procedures. The role may also help train other technicians, support root cause investigations related to measurement discrepancies, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the metrology function.
- Strong knowledge of calibration and metrology principles, including experience with test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment commonly used in manufacturing or laboratory environments.
- Ability to interpret technical documentation, including specifications, calibration procedures, engineering drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Experience working within regulated environments (e.g., FDA, ISO, or similar), with an understanding of quality systems, documentation practices, and audit readiness.
- Proficiency with computer-based calibration management systems and basic office software for data entry, recordkeeping, and reporting.
- Solid problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes of equipment issues and recommend practical corrective actions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams, and to provide clear documentation and status updates.
- Ability to perform detailed, repetitive technical tasks with high accuracy and attention to detail, while managing multiple instruments and deadlines.
- Relevant technical education such as an associate degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, metrology, or a related field; equivalent experience in calibration or equipment maintenance is strongly valued.
- Prior experience in a medical device, pharmaceutical, or high-precision manufacturing environment is preferred.
