Reports to: Quality & Warranty Manager
Working Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6AM to 4:30PM with a 30-minute lunch break
Job Summary /Objective of JobThe Gear Inspector is responsible for inspecting transmission gears and related components to ensure they meet Valley Truck Parts’ quality standards and specifications for remanufacturing. This position plays a critical role in identifying reusable components, determining repair needs, and ensuring only quality gears move forward in the production process.
Summary of Essential Job Functions- Inspect transmission gears and related components for wear, damage, and defects
- Determine the usability of gears based on established quality standards and specifications
- Sort and organize gears based on inspection results for reuse, repair, or scrap
- Identify and document defects, excessive wear, or non-conforming components
- Maintain accurate inspection records and communicate findings with production and management
- Ensure proper handling and storage of inspected gears to prevent damage
- Support production needs by maintaining efficient inspection workflow and turnaround
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- 3–5 years’ experience with Heavy Trucking transmissions, gearing systems, or related components preferred
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects and wear patterns
- Ability to multi-task and remain focused in a fast-paced environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of transmission components
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
