About Heritage Trail Correctional Facility:
Heritage Trail Correctional Facility is a minimum‑security facility in Plainfield, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,000 incarcerated adult males. Located on historic grounds, once home to the Indiana Boys School, the facility includes preserved red fire‑kiln brick buildings. Housing is dormitory‑style and encourages personal responsibility and collaboration. Heritage Trail provides programming that supports community involvement, skill development, and re‑entry readiness.

Role Overview :
As a Maintenance Supervisor you are responsible for the oversight, coordination, and management of heavy equipment operations within an assigned region while providing support and operational response across all facilities agency wide.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
* Plan the short-term daily and weekly work schedules based on priorities and deadlines.
* Establish schedules and methods for providing facility and maintenance services.
* Identify resource needs, review needs with appropriate management staff, and allocate resources.
* Assign and delegate work to subordinates, spot check routine work, and review more complex or unusual projects.
* Maintain operational systems to monitor and track work orders, preventative maintenance logs, safety reports, etc.
* Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local rules, regulations, and standard trade practices related to quality standards.
* Regularly inspect property for safety and security concerns.
* Install, inspect, repair, and maintain the electrical, plumbing, sewage, mechanical, and other related systems in facility locations.
* Inspect, operate, and maintain the heating, cooling, and ventilation systems (including boiler system) in all facility locations.
* Order, prepare specifications, and purchase supplies, equipment, and contract work according to required purchasing and bidding procedures.
* Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
* Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work.
