Plainfield Correctional Facility is a medium‑security institution located in Plainfield, Indiana, with a capacity of more than 1,600 incarcerated adult males. The facility provides mental health and substance use treatment services, along with multiple educational opportunities. As a Maintenance Technician, you’ll join a full‑service maintenance team, supporting daily repair and preventive maintenance in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and grounds. This Monday–Friday role offers steady hours, strong safety practices, and hands‑on experience. We provide training for motivated individuals starting their maintenance career, with a clear path for advancement into supervisory and leadership roles (Maintenance Technician → Maintenance Supervisor → Physical Plant Director).

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $42,900.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience. Depending on the retirement plan you choose, the total compensation value of a $42,900.00 salary, including the State’s retirement contributions, can reach approximately $69,822.98. The essential functions of this role are as follows:

• Solicit cost estimates or cost proposals.
• Estimate costs and work hours for maintenance projects.
• Oversee and participates in preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities
• Maintain accountability of materials, tools, equipment, and vehicles.
• Ensure compliance, of self and assigned personnel, with all appropriate protective and safety requirements
• Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.
• Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is an essential function of this position.
