This position will require early morning weekday and weekend availability beginning at 5:00am with evening shifts as needed.
The Aquatics Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Facilities Operations Manager with the day-to-day shift operations of the aquatic centers.
Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To- Leads the daily operations as a shift supervisor on duty to include all lifeguard supervision and guest activities involved with the aquatics programs in the aquatics centers to include: supervision of recreational swim and overseeing the teaching, coaching, instructing and assisting with lessons, water aerobics and other programs and special events in accordance with Town affiliated and authorized instructional guidelines and protocol.
- Ensures guest safety in accordance with established lifeguard zone of protection standards and lifeguard vigilance requirements.
- Ensures that all applicable codes including Board of Health, Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC) and other regulatory guidelines are enforced.
- Ensures that all aspects of the aquatic facilities are clean and in safe working condition.
- Assists with administrative duties to include the accurate completion of Jeff Ellis and Associates reports, zone validation reports for lifeguards, accident and incident reports, etc.
- Monitors the water chemistry of the pools on a daily basis and makes chemical adjustments when necessary to include ensuring the safe handling of chemicals used in the pools.
- Performs basic maintenance as needed in the pump rooms and on the pool deck.
- Assists with creation of the schedules for the lifeguards and assists the Assistant Aquatics Managers with the training of new lifeguards and program instructors as well as leading in-service training as assigned.
- Regularly performs lifeguarding role including patron supervision during shift.
- Regularly performs swim/program instructor role including teaching swim lessons.
- Completes special assignments as assigned.
- Attends meetings, as assigned.
Supervises part-time aquatics center employees during shift. Employee carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; scheduling and approving time worked; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
