Performance Food Group (PFG) is hiring a Driver Trainee to learn how to operate a tractor trailer or straight truck in intrastate and interstate routes. The trainee will safely deliver food and related products to customers and support company operations.
Position PurposeThis is an entry level driver training role. The driver will learn to drive a tractor trailer or straight truck on local, OTR, shuttle, and overnight routes, deliver and unload food products, ensure compliance with DOT regulations, and provide customer service.
Responsibilities- Attend and complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
- Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries.
- Perform all required safety checks and inspections.
- Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines.
- Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight.
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to schedule.
- Unload products and perform damage control checks.
- Collect payments and load returns onto trailer.
- Lock and secure tractor, trailer, and freight at all times.
- Complete daily record of hours of service and required paperwork.
- Perform general housekeeping duties and keep trailers clean.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6‑12 months commercial driving experience.
- Valid CDL‑A license.
- Must be 21+ years old.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years.
- Pass post‑offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Have or obtain a current DOT Health Card.
- Ability to hand‑lift and use equipment to move freight ranging from 10–35 pounds to 60–90 pounds.
