Overview

We are seeking an experienced Inbound Warehouse Supervisor (1st Shift) to support the Inbound Warehouse Manager by leading daily inbound operations, including vendor purchase order receiving and interhouse transfers (STOs), put-away, and replenishment/stocking of pick lines to prepare the night shift to complete order selection. This role provides front-line leadership to hourly associates, ensures accurate inventory movement in SAP, and enforces all food safety, temperature-control, and SOP requirements.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supervises and coordinates 1st shift inbound activities including vendor PO receiving, STO receiving/processing, dock staging, put-away, and directed replenishment to pick lines.
  • Leads a team of warehouse associates on the inbound shift by assigning work, coaching safe and productive methods, and monitoring performance to daily expectations.
  • Ensures strict compliance with food safety requirements and temperature-controlled handling SOPs at all times (cold-chain protection, product integrity, and sanitary practices).
  • Verifies receiving accuracy and documentation (BOL/PO, quantity, item, and lot/date where applicable), completes required system transactions, and escalates/resolves discrepancies through established processes.
  • Drives timely put-away and replenishment completion to support a clean handoff to the night shift; communicates progress, constraints, and priorities to the Inbound Warehouse Manager.
  • Conducts start-of-shift huddles and maintains active floor presence to reinforce safety, quality, productivity, and respect expectations; addresses hazards, near misses, and unsafe behaviors immediately.
  • Coordinates equipment and labor needs with the Inbound Warehouse Manager; escalates staffing gaps, congestion, product issues, or service risks in real time.
  • Partners with Inventory Control and Outbound leadership to support continuous improvement (location accuracy, damage reduction, replenishment effectiveness, and process adherence).
  • Supports attendance, performance, and corrective action recommendations and documentation in alignment with company policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
  • Ensures proper use and accountability of material handling equipment and RF technology; maintains dock safety, aisle organization, and housekeeping standards. Completes required shift reporting (receipts, put-away, replenishment, damages/shorts, safety observations) and ensures documentation is accurate and timely.
  • In emergency coverage situations, may serve as back-up to the Cigarette Stamping Manager, completing limited stamping/distribution support tasks as trained and authorized, and adhering to all applicable regulatory and company requirements (expected infrequent coverage, generally less than one week per year).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Working knowledge of inbound receiving, put-away, and replenishment practices in a high-volume warehouse environment. Ability to lead in a temperature-controlled food distribution setting with strong adherence to SOPs and product handling standards.
  • Strong communication and coaching skills with the ability to direct work, solve problems on the floor, and support a positive, respectful workplace.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and adjust to shifting priorities and time-sensitive handoffs between shifts.

Basic proficiency with warehouse systems; SAP experience is helpful.

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required.
  • At least 2 years of warehouse operations experience required (receiving and/or inventory movement experience strongly preferred).
  • 1+ year of experience leading or supervising a team (lead, trainer, or supervisor role).
  • Ability to work in a temperature-controlled environment and follow food safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Ability to operate, or become qualified to operate, required powered industrial equipment (PIT) and other material handling equipment.
Benefits
  • Competitive pay and benefits, including Day 1 Health & Wellness Benefits, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K Employer Matching, Education Assistance, Paid Time Off, and more.
  • Growth opportunities performing essential work to support America’s food distribution system.
  • Safe and inclusive working environment with rewards, recognition, and respect.
