Controller, Accounting, Accounting Manager

Our client is a real estate firm. They seek a Controller to join their Plainfield, NJ office.

• Oversee the overall coordination and execution of the month-end close process within the accounting team to meet reporting deadlines
• Review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, journal entries, and third-party accounting integrations (Yardi) for accuracy and completeness
• Analyze financial statements and accounts for accuracy and reasonableness, providing explanations for significant variances and fluctuations
• Record and support accounting for property acquisitions, additions, dispositions, fixed assets, and portfolio-wide asset activity
• Maintain critical schedules and reporting, including sales and rent billing percentages, insurance master policies, and commission schedules
• Approve tenant-related billings portfolio-wide, including water, sewer, tenant repairs, CAM, and tax settlements for third-party clients
• Support Property Management and Finance teams in monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting processes
• Assist with internal and external audits, including analysis, documentation, and certification of accounting procedures and controls
• Supervise and develop staff accountants through training, cross-training, and guidance on reporting packages and construction billing
• Drive continuous process improvement by researching accounting standards, enhancing workflows, supporting ad hoc analyses for leadership, and presenting process updates to stakeholders

• 8-14 years of real estate accounting experience for a commercial portfolio
