Grade 5 Dual Language Teacher (Spanish)

The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students in Pre-K through Grade 12, seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative professional for the position of Grade 5 Dual Language Teacher (Spanish).

The successful candidate will join our growing Dual Language program and play an essential role in developing students' bilingualism, biliteracy, and cross-cultural understanding. The Grade 5 Dual Language Teacher will provide high-quality Spanish language instruction within a dual language setting, support academic achievement, and create a classroom environment where all students are challenged, supported, and empowered to succeed.

For candidates still in the process of attaining certification, please note that the North Plainfield School District is approved for participation in the New Jersey Department of Education Limited Certificate Program, which may allow qualified candidates to work in a full-time role while completing final certification requirements. North Plainfield also offers a competitive salary and benefits package in accordance with the negotiated agreement.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold or be eligible for one of the following New Jersey certifications:

* Elementary School Teacher in Grades K6 with a Bilingual/Bicultural Endorsement (required); or

* Teacher of English Language Arts in Grades 58 with a Bilingual/Bicultural Endorsement (required); or

* English as a Second Language (ESL) Certification with a Bilingual/Bicultural Endorsement (required).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Strong knowledge of dual language instructional practices and strategies that support bilingualism, biliteracy, and academic achievement;

* Ability to provide rigorous, standards-based instruction in Spanish while supporting students' development of reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills;

* Knowledge of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and culturally responsive teaching practices;

* Ability to analyze student performance data and use assessment information to guide instruction and support student growth;

* Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with grade-level teams, bilingual educators, ESL teachers, instructional coaches, and families to support student success;

* Proficiency in lesson planning, classroom management, curriculum development, assessment practices, and the integration of diverse educational resources;

* Commitment to ongoing professional learning, reflective practice, and continuous instructional improvement;

* Fluency and literacy in both English and Spanish required.
