Permanent Building Substitute Teacher
Location:
College Achieve Central Charter School/Plainfield Compensation: $200 per day
College Achieve Central Charter School is seeking committed and reliable Permanent Building Substitute Teachers to provide high-quality instruction and maintain a productive learning environment in the absence of the regular classroom teacher daily. This is a vital role in supporting our mission of preparing all students to excel at a top college or university. The ideal candidate will have strong classroom management skills, a flexible mindset, and a passion for working with children.
Key Responsibilities- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent
- Implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher or develop engaging activities aligned to learning objectives
- Establish a classroom environment that supports academic learning and student engagement
- Maintain order and follow school policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all students
- Communicate with students in a respectful and positive manner
- Assist with classroom and school duties as assigned, including hallway transitions, lunch, and dismissal
- Follow policies and expectations established by the school administration
- Provide feedback to classroom teachers on student performance and classroom behavior as needed
- Attend professional development opportunities when required
Education and Certification:
Minimum of 60 college credits and current enrollment in an education program at an accredited college or university. Valid New Jersey Substitute Teacher Certificate.
Skills and Attributes:
Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Ability to build rapport with students and maintain a positive classroom culture. Commitment to the mission and values of College Achieve Public Schools. Articulate and professional communication skills. A passion for education and student achievement. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing classroom situations. Proficiency in basic technology (e.g., printers, computers, projectors). Willingness to be a collaborative team member.
