School Counselor
The North Plainfield School District, a culturally diverse school community in Somerset County serving approximately 3,700 students in Pre-K through Grade 12, seeks a compassionate, student-centered professional to serve as a School Counselor. The School Counselor supports students' academic, social-emotional, and college and career development while partnering with families, staff, and community agencies to promote student success and foster a positive school climate.
Qualifications
Required:
New Jersey School Counselor Certificate. Master's degree in School Counseling or related field. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Knowledge of comprehensive school counseling programs and student support services.
Performance Responsibilities The successful candidate will:
Deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that supports students' academic, social-emotional, and career development. Provide individual and group counseling services. Collaborate with administrators, teachers, families, and outside agencies to support student success. Assist with academic planning, scheduling, and post-secondary planning. Participate in intervention planning, NJTSS, and Section 504 meetings. Monitor student data, including attendance, behavior, and academic performance, to identify and address student needs.
Respond to student crises and coordinate appropriate supports. Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate. Maintain accurate student records and comply with state and federal requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Salary Range & Benefits Salary Range: $69,630 (minimum) to $103,470 (maximum), commensurate with experience and in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
