The Apprentice (HVAC or Refrigeration) provides support to an installation team by completing tasks safely, promptly, accurately, and professionally, following customer specifications, building codes, and proper piping practices.
- Install equipment under the direction of a senior technician
- HVAC: air handler drains, piping for split systems, overhead duct hangers, and ductwork.
- Refrigeration: display case drains, walk‑in box drains, overhead hangers, and piping.
- Perform all assigned work safely using power tools, hand tools, powered vehicles, machinery, and PPE as directed and required by Source, customer, and contract policy.
- Escalate problems and concerns (safety, quality of work, etc.) to on‑site senior technicians or project managers promptly.
- Always maintain clean and professional job sites/work areas; properly store, disassemble, or remove all spare and waste materials.
- Provide assistance and support to senior technicians on a job.
- Carry out all responsibilities honestly, ethically, and professionally.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Install all types of piping including PVC, copper (brazing), and copper line sets.
- Education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma, GED, or completion of a trade program or technical school.
- 5+ years of experience in construction, refrigeration, HVAC, or related industry/trade preferred.
- Ability to operate a scissor lift or forklift preferred.
- Knowledge of jobsite safety and ability to perform work in accordance with safe work practices and rules.
- Ability to use basic power and hand tools including drills, fuel gas tools, electrical meters, and measurement tools.
- Ability to be punctual and dependable.
- Ability to work in a variety of conditions, including scaling ladders to heights, working outdoors in hot/cold temperatures, and in noisy environments.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including fractional addition/subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate timely, clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work constructively in a team environment following instructions from senior technicians.
- Understanding and following all company policies, procedures, and applicable State and Federal laws.
- Good driving record.
