Veterinary Assistant, Internal Medicine | Starting at $18+/hour
Location: Plainview, NY
Schedule: Full-Time | Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8am - 5pm
Compensation: Starting at $18+/hour, commensurate with experience and skillset
LIVS is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to join our specialty and emergency animal hospital in the Internal Medicine department in Plainview, NY. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on patient care, teamwork, and supporting a collaborative veterinary team.
As a Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work alongside experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians while helping provide compassionate care for pets and the families who love them.
Compensation- Starting at $18+/hour

- Provide compassionate care, comfort, and support for hospitalized patients
- Assist with safe patient restraint, feeding, walking, and daily care needs
- Support veterinarians and veterinary technicians during procedures and treatments
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout patient care areas
- Follow hospital cleaning protocols and infection‑control standards
- Assist with accurate medical record documentation
- Communicate effectively with team members to support patient care
- Adapt between departments and assist where support is needed
- Previous animal care or veterinary hospital experience preferred, but not required
- Passion for working with animals and supporting clients
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced veterinary environment
- Professional, reliable, and team‑focused
- Flexible and willing to assist across different areas of the hospital
- Ability to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods of time
- Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
