Job Description
Pharmaceutical sales representatives’ primary role is to promote and sell Pharmacy specialty services to healthcare professionals by educating them on the benefits of utilizing our pharmcy services, and building strong professional relationships.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesPharmaceutical sales representatives are responsible for managing their assigned territory and achieving sales targets.
- Product Promotion and
Education:
Conduct presentations and provide information about new pharmacy services and existing products to physicians. - Relationship Management:
Build and maintain positive, trust-based relationships with healthcare professionals and key decision-makers through regular visits and interactions. - Territory and Data Analysis:
Monitor prescription trends, analyze market conditions, and track competitor activities to develop and adjust sales strategies effectively. - Sales Target Achievement:
Develop and execute strategic plans to meet or exceed sales goals within a specific territory. - Sales and Negotiation:
Assess client needs, perform cost-benefit analyses, address objections, and negotiate sales to meet or exceed established sales goals. - Administration and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all customer interactions and sales activities using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and submit regular reports to management. - Continuous Learning:
Stay current with the latest medical data and industry trends by attending training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
Skills and Qualifications
Success in this competitive field requires a blend of scientific knowledge, sales acumen, and interpersonal skills.
- Education:
A bachelor's degree is typically required, often in life sciences, business, marketing, or a related field. - Sales Expertise:
- Proven sales experience, preferably in B2B or medical sales.
- Strong negotiation, prospecting, and closing skills.
- Highly motivated and target-driven mindset.
- Knowledge:
- Deep product knowledge and understanding of relevant therapeutic areas.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, and pharmacy services
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance issues.
- Interpersonal & Communication:
- Excellent verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to build rapport and influence decision-makers.
- Active listening skills to understand customer needs.
- Strong relationship-building and networking abilities.
- Organizational & Technical:
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage a demanding schedule and territory.
- Proficiency in using CRM software, reporting tools, and other digital platforms.
- Ability to analyze sales data and market trends.
- Personal Attributes:
- Resilience and self-confidence to handle rejection and competitive pressure.
- Adaptability and initiative to navigate changing market dynamics.
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Previous experience in pharmaceutical or medical device sales.
- CNPR (Certified National Pharmaceutical Representative) certification is often recommended.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel extensively.
- Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree a plus.
- 2+ years’ experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a sales role of similar complexity within the last 5 years.
- Strong ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally within a matrix environment, can communicate clinical product information, has a validated track-record of consistent high-performance, and is proficient in navigating and successfully selling to large accounts and key customer segments.
- Self-starter with analytic abilities to seek out, prioritize, and apply relevant information to solve problems to meet the needs of key customers, while also demonstrating ethical leadership and ability to champion an environment that promotes ethical behavior and compliance with company policies & laws.
- Candidate must reside within territory, or within a reasonable daily commuting distance of 50 miles from the territory border. Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. Must have a valid…
