Job Summary

Job Summary: EMCOR Services of NY/NJ has an opportunity for a Senior HVAC Technician. The Senior HVAC Technician performs preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshoots and services commercial and industrial HVAC systems, conducts tests and data analysis to assure proper functioning of equipment, and makes recommendations as appropriate. The candidate must understand system control and operation, keep accurate service records, communicate effectively, lead teams, build strong customer relationships, and follow all electrical safety standards and procedures, including training and coaching of apprentices and co‑workers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install replacement equipment and parts per manufacturer specifications to honor warranties.
  • Complete HVACR preventive maintenance in accordance with established standards.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair HVACR malfunctions in accordance with EPA established standards.
  • Follow maintenance schedule and complete accurate, timely equipment maintenance and operating logs.
  • Complete documentation, including timesheets, expense reports, service reports, and purchase card logs.
  • Conduct general tasks such as safety training, group meetings, and maintain tools and vehicle (if applicable).
Education
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent, HVAC apprenticeship program.
Qualifications/Skills
  • 5 – 10 years of HVAC experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC equipment/systems.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, safety policies, and procedure manuals; to write routine reports and correspondence; and to present information in individual and small group situations.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems; basic mathematical abilities in all units of measure; read blueprints, technical schematics, and specification manuals.
Licenses/Certifications
  • EPA universal refrigeration license; specific license and certification requirements listed in Service Level Agreement.
  • OSHA 30.
  • FDNY Fire Watch and Burning Permits.
  • Clean driver’s license.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear; occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
  • Occasionally loud noise level; may require safety equipment including steel toe shoes, hearing, eye and hand protection.

Salary

The salary for this position is determined by the terms of the 638B Collective Bargaining Agreements and is up to $47.85 per hour.
