Job SummarySenior HVAC Technician performs preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance, troubleshooting, and service of commercial and industrial HVAC systems. Performs tests and analysis of data to assure proper functioning of equipment, provides recommendations, understands control operation and sequence of operation, keeps accurate records, and communicates effectively. Works as a leader, maintains strong customer relationships, builds teams, follows all electrical safety standards and procedures, and trains apprentices and co-workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install replacement equipment and parts per manufacturer specifications to honor warranties
- Complete HVACR preventive maintenance in accordance with established standards
- Troubleshoot, analyze and repair HVACR malfunctions in accordance with EPA standards
- Follow maintenance schedule to complete accurate and timely equipment maintenance and operating logs
- Complete documentation, including timesheets, expense reports, service reports and purchase card logs
- Conduct general tasks including safety training, group meetings, and maintaining tools and vehicle (if applicable)
- High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent, HVAC apprenticeship program
- 5‑10 years HVAC experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC equipment/systems
- Ability to read and comprehend safety policies, procedure manuals, write routine reports, and effectively present information in individual and small group settings
- Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, basic math, ability to read blueprints, technical schematics, and specification manuals
- EPA universal refrigeration license; specific license and certification requirements listed in Service Level Agreement
- OSHA 30
- FDNY Fire Watch and Burning Permits
- Clean driver’s license
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear; occasionally sit, reach, climb, or stoop; regularly lift up to 25 lb and occasionally lift up to 100 lb
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock; occasionally wet or humid conditions, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration; occasionally loud noise levels; may require safety equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, hearing, eye and hand protection

SalaryThe salary for this position is determined by the terms of the 638b Collective Bargaining Agreements and is up to $47.85 per hour.
