Job SummaryEMCOR Services of NY/NJ is hiring a Senior HVAC Technician. The senior HVAC technician performs preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance, troubleshoots and services commercial and industrial HVAC systems, tests and analyzes data to ensure proper functioning of equipment, and provides recommendations as appropriate. The role involves understanding control operations, sequence of operations, maintaining accurate service records, and effective communication. The technician leads a team, builds strong customer relationships, and follows all electrical safety standards, including training apprentices and co‑workers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install replacement equipment and parts per manufacturer specifications to honor warranties.
- Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with established standards.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and repair HVACR malfunctions following EPA standards.
- Follow the maintenance schedule to complete accurate and timely equipment maintenance and operating logs.
- Complete documentation, including timesheets, expense reports, service reports, and purchase card logs.
- Perform general tasks such as safety training, group meetings, and maintenance of tools and vehicle (when applicable).
- High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent; completion of an HVAC apprenticeship program.
- 5–10 years of HVAC experience working on commercial or industrial HVAC equipment and systems.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, including safety policies and procedures, and to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in individual and small group situations.
- Knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems; basic mathematical ability in all units of measure.
- Read blueprints, technical schematics, and specification manuals.
- EPA universal refrigeration license.
- OSHA 30‑hour training.
- FDNY Fire Watch and Burning Permits.
- Clean driver’s license.
Regularly required to stand, walk, hand‑use, talk, and hear. Occasionally required to sit, reach, climb, balance, and stoop. Regularly lifts or moves up to 25 lbs and sometimes up to 100 lbs. Requires vision for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus.
Work EnvironmentExposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical shock risk, wet or humid conditions, high and precarious places, fumes, chemicals, weather extremes, vibration, and loud noise. Requires safety equipment such as steel‑toe shoes, hearing, eye, and hand protection.

CompensationThe salary for this position is up to $47.85 per hour, determined by the 638b Collective Bargaining Agreements.
