General ResponsibilitiesAs a full‑time faculty member, the Project Management and Cybersecurity will be primarily responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure information systems while leading technology‑related projects from initiation to completion. The role includes overseeing system performance, ensuring data security, and coordinating cross‑functional teams to support organizational goals.
Additionally, the employee is expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and strong ethical standards in all interactions, while maintaining effective communication with team members, stakeholders, and leadership. The individual will contribute to continuous improvement by identifying system vulnerabilities, recommending solutions, and supporting innovation within the organization.
This position requires active collaboration with internal departments and may involve mentoring team members, supporting organizational training initiatives, and contributing to documentation, reporting, and strategic planning efforts. The employee may also be required to participate in meetings, conferences, or off‑site assignments to support project implementation and organizational needs. This position may require travel to external campuses to support international students participating in residencies.
SpecificTasks and Duties
- Prepare and teach 33 semester hours each academic year as part of a 12‑month contract.
- Keep required paperwork, including grades and attendance, and submit reports when requested.
- Update grades weekly on Blackboard.
- Post syllabus according to university policies by the start of the term on Blackboard.
- Submit final grades through Student Services, including concurrent student spreadsheets to the Registrar’s Office.
- Undergo periodic grade and/or attendance checks requested by the Department of Student Success.
- Abide by accommodations sent by the Title IX Coordinator and/or Disability Services Coordinator.
- Maintain office hours for students through Zoom or phone.
- Be available online during the week, excluding vacation, holidays, and weekends.
- Dress professionally and appropriately for assigned tasks.
- Assist the dean and faculty members in developing new courses/programs, reporting data, selecting textbooks, and developing syllabi.
- Serve on university, faculty, and school committees; attend graduations, school events, and scheduled faculty/staff meetings and professional development activities.
- Maintain competence in the use of Wayland’s adopted online teaching and retention management systems, including satisfactory completion of all necessary annual training. These systems include Blackboard and Colleague.
- Provide advisement, being thoroughly familiar with degree requirements and academic policy, and serve as a teacher and advisor within your program of expertise.
- Act as an active leader in university committees and serve the broader community.
- Endorsement by the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
- Be able to pass background checks.
- Be able to travel one weekend per eight‑week session to support residencies.
- Education: Must hold an earned doctorate, the equivalent terminal degree, or an advanced degree combined with appropriate certification and/or professional work experience in information systems management.
- Experience and Knowledge: Must have experience teaching at the graduate level or related academic experience, or an equivalent period in professional or work experience.
- Skills and Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software such as SPSS; strong interpersonal and written communication skills; discretion and integrity; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities; organization and time‑management skills.
