Position DescriptionEmployees in this classification are responsible for performing awide variety of patient care activities at the Bell County Jailin Belton, TX. They work within their legal scope of practice and in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
Work is performed under the direction of a registered nurse as partof a total correctional managed health care team in providing safeand competent care to patients.

Major/Essential Functions- Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patientresponses to assist in the identification of problems andformulation of goals and outcomes.
- Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Assists with or performs exams and procedures:
Assistance inexams and procedures is conducted within the LVN scope of practice. - Administer or assist with the administration of medications to patients:
Ensures patient medications are administered followingclinical and compliance policies and procedures. - Assess and triage patient care requests:
Receives, documents,assesses, and responds to patient care requests according to policyand standards. - Performs nursing rounds as needed in all required areas.
- Other duties as assigned:
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in thejob classification and/or position description.

Preferred Qualifications- Experience with electronic health records
- Previously worked in a dynamic health facility under the direction of supervising nurses.
- Experience in a correctional setting.

Required QualificationsCurrent Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or abilityto transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program ofvocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position.
Current CPR certification. Graduated from an approved, accreditednursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the firstattempt. No experience required.
