Job Title: Entry-Level Reality Capture Specialist
Work Environment: Hybrid (office and field)
Duration: Permanent
Pay: Up to $65,000/year
Required Skills & Experience- Willingness and ability to work both in the office and in the field
- Strong desire to learn, accept coaching, and adapt to new software, technology, and equipment
- Basic understanding of surveying principles, including coordinate systems and control points
- Foundational CAD/BIM literacy (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to scan locations
- Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience using AutoCAD
- Proficiency with BIM software such as Revit and Civil 3D, particularly for land development and site modeling
- Experience with point cloud processing software (TopoDOT, RIEGL RiSCAN, Trimble Business Center)
- Knowledge of GIS software and BIM-to-GIS integration for site analysis and data management
Insight Global is seeking an entry-level Reality Capture Specialist to support an engineering firm based in Plainville, CT. This role focuses on transforming laser-scanned point cloud data into accurate digital models and deliverables for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) projects. The Reality Capture Specialist plays a key role in enabling efficient design, planning, and construction by delivering precise existing‑condition data within a BIM environment.
Key Responsibilities- Process and analyze raw point cloud data, including registration, noise reduction, and segmentation
- Generate accurate topographic surfaces such as Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) using tools like TopoDOT
- Extract 2D drawings and 3D models from laser scan data in alignment with project scopes
- Utilize BIM and modeling software including Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Civil 3D, RIEGL RiSCAN, and Micro Station
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and construction teams to support site planning and construction monitoring
- Perform quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy of point cloud processing and BIM integration
- Stay current with advancements in laser scanning, point cloud processing, and BIM technologies
- Split time between office-based processing and field support as required
