Job Description
We're seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to join our engineering team and support the design and development of complex mechanical, piping, and construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and the CAD Manager to create high-quality design documentation using industry-leading Trimble and Autodesk software.
- Develop detailed design drawings, layouts, and construction documents from sketches, concepts, and engineering markups.
- Create and maintain complex mechanical and piping drawings, including:
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Equipment skid layouts
- Piping systems and detailed equipment drawings
- Scaled equipment and facility layouts
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
- Prepare and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs), material takeoffs, equipment schedules, and construction documentation.
- Support procurement efforts by assisting with subcontractor and vendor bid packages.
- Perform clash detection and coordination reviews using Navisworks.
- Update and annotate existing PDF drawings and documents.
- Maintain compliance with company document control standards, procedures, and quality requirements.
- Stay current with industry trends, software advancements, and best practices through ongoing professional development.
- Proficiency with:
- Trimble Pipe Designer and/or Duct Designer
- AutoCAD
- Autodesk MEP
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, piping systems, and construction documentation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and technical specifications.
- Experience creating detailed fabrication and construction drawings.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Field experience in mechanical, piping, HVAC, or industrial construction environments.
- Knowledge of system layouts, equipment installation requirements, and constructability considerations.
- Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, or process facility projects.
