Equipment Operator Responsibilities- Follow site plans and direction of Foreman to accomplish daily project tasks including removal of existing asphalt, grading, site layout, curb setting, and more.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform regular safety checks on equipment.
- Coordinate with crew members and truck drivers using hand signals or radios to ensure proper material removal and loading.
- Ensure equipment is properly positioned before turning it on or off and during loading and unloading.
- Perform other construction duties as needed.
- Promptly report all faults to the Supervisor or Foreman.
- Keep sites clean and safe.
- Attend meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
- Identify faults and troubleshoot equipment as required.
- Understanding of hydraulic systems, grade control technology, and machine maintenance.
- OSHA 10 (required)
- DOT Medical Card (required)
- Hoisting License (required)
- Driver’s License with clean record
- Prior experience operating equipment.
- 1+ year experience with asphalt.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Sound understanding of health and safety codes.
- Positive outlook and willingness to learn.
- Hourly rate depending on experience: $30‑$40/hour
- Typical work schedule: 6 AM Monday through Friday
- Occasional Saturdays required
- Snow removal required during winter months
