Manufacturing ​/ Production Operator, Manufacturing Production

Overview

Scandia Plastics, a Pexco company, located in Plaistow, NH is currently recruiting for a Machine Operator for all shifts.

• Read and understand all production paperwork.
• Work independently on assigned projects.
• Work in and around extruders, hoppers, loaders and all other pertinent equipment.
• Assemble and disassemble extrusion lines in accordance with the Scandia Plastics Extrusion Training Manual and the Production Set up Sheet.
• Ensure operation of equipment by evaluating and recommending repairs to the Production Supervisor and to maintenance by the means of using a repair tag.
• Understand how to use the Material Inventory and be proficient with material mixing.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Must perform all duties in a safe manner.
• Maintain compliance with the Company policies, procedures and safety programs.
• Work with all employees to accomplish goals, as required.
• May be required to serve as a Production Supervisor whenever the current Production Supervisor and/or Assistant Supervisor are not available.
• Effectively communicate with fellow employees, including employees from other shifts.
• Perform other such tasks as requested by management.

• High School diploma or equivalent is required; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to verbally communicate effectively.
• Have a working knowledge and be able to perform production functions that include: extrusion line operation, extruder set up and quality control when necessary.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment, which can be subjected to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity.
• Familiar with Q.C. instrumentation and reading prints.
• Possess mechanical ability.
• Understand and perform written and oral instruction.
• Must have basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 55 lbs. as needed.
• Must have good hand eye coordination and physically be able to keep up with the work load.
• Perform periods of standing, bending, carrying, stooping and moving within the production area for complete shifts.
• Specific vision abilities required by the position include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
