Our client is seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to support project-based invoicing within a fast-paced environment. This role will own the billing process from invoice preparation through issue resolution, partnering closely with operations, project teams, and accounting to ensure timely and accurate revenue recognition.

What You'll Do:

* Manage invoicing for a portfolio of active projects from initiation through completion

* Review supporting documentation and contract terms to determine appropriate billing treatment

* Prepare customer invoices and pay applications while ensuring accuracy and completeness

* Track project changes, customer requirements, and billing milestones throughout the project lifecycle

* Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and documentation gaps

* Partner with project teams and accounting to support collections efforts and minimize aging receivables

* Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with internal controls and established processes

* Prioritize a high volume of work while meeting critical month-end and customer deadlines

* Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve billing efficiency

What We're Looking For:

* Experience managing billing within a project-driven environment

* Ability to interpret agreements and translate terms into accurate invoices

* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies

* Comfortable working independently while managing competing priorities

* High attention to detail and a sense of ownership over deliverables

* Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with both internal and external stakeholders

* Proficiency in Excel and the ability to learn new systems quickly

Nice to Have:

* Exposure to progress billing, percentage-of-completion billing, or milestone-based invoicing

* Experience supporting construction, manufacturing, engineering, specialty contracting, or other project-based organizations

* Familiarity with ERP systems and workflow management tools

* Experience navigating lien documentation or customer-specific invoicing requirements
