Overview
The Senior Tax Specialist reports to the Tax Manager assisting in the preparation of Federal, State and Local Partnership and other related tax returns and supporting schedules. The Senior Tax Specialist will also assist in the training and supervision of the Tax Specialist.
Responsibilities- Prepares Federal, State and Local Partnership and related tax returns using One Source.
- Reviews State and Local Partnership and related tax returns prepared by Tax Specialist.
- Prepares quarterly and annual work papers to support calculation of Partnership Income and Cash Distributions.
- Assists the Tax Manager in the training and supervision of the Tax Specialist.
- Collaborates with supervisors to investigate and implement the ways in which new AI technology will create new efficiencies for the team.
- Reviews monthly tax account analysis prepared by Tax Specialist to ensure the journal entries are recorded appropriately.
- Prepares and reviews other general ledger account analysis to determine the appropriate accounting for tax purposes.
- Prepares, reviews and submits journal entries for review and approval.
- Studies tax laws, regulations, court decisions and other tax information to keep abreast of new developments and considers their application to Company affairs. Prepares correspondence with tax authorities.
- Assists in the tax audits performed by government agents by compiling required factual data.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field required. CPA preferred.
- 4-8 years of Income Tax experience is required, preferably Partnership.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products, especially Excel and Word.
- Basic knowledge of tax law and ability to utilize research subscriptions, preferably Checkpoint.
- Working knowledge of Income Tax preparation software, preferably One Source.
- Ability to effectively communicate with people in or outside the company.
- Ability to analyze general ledger accounts, reconcile between Balance Sheet and P&L accounts.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
