Pay Range
Pay or shift range: $100,000 USD to $110,000 USD. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.
Position SummarySouthern Land Company, a national real estate development and construction firm headquartered in the U.S., is seeking a full‑time Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work independently in a fast‑paced environment, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for assigned properties.
Primary Responsibilities- Perform monthly full‑cycle accounting functions for single‑family home building and development projects, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and monitoring/reviewing receivables and payables.
- Review and maintain cash balances for assigned entities, submit funding requests as necessary, and approve bill payments.
- Ensure timely payment of real estate taxes.
- Complete the monthly construction draw process for assigned development entities and assist with the month‑end financial close, reviewing job costs for budget variances, cost code errors, and other posting errors on invoices.
- Support the Single‑Family Controller by serving as a first‑level reviewer for monthly draw reporting packages, monthly financial packets, and other reports as requested.
- Assist with year‑end audits and tax returns.
- Participate in special projects and prepare ad‑hoc reports as required.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent time‑management skills, drive to take initiative, sound judgment, a sense of urgency, and attention to detail to manage multiple projects through to completion.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints, handle frequent interruptions, unresolved situations, change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Strong interpersonal skills to professionally communicate with clients, vendors, and colleagues via email, phone, and in person.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Ability to maintain sensitive information with high confidentiality.
- Capacity to work independently, prioritize work, and seek clarification when needed.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with strong knowledge of GAAP, accrual‑basis accounting, and financial reporting.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, with relevant construction or real‑estate experience preferred.
- Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
Education and Experience
- CPA license is a strong plus.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
