About this opportunity
Trade Compliance Operations at Ericsson ensures that legal entities conduct business in full compliance with applicable trade, customs, and import/export laws and regulations. This role leads Ericsson’s trade and customs compliance strategy and operations across the North American region (US, Canada, Mexico) from Plano, Texas.
Responsibilities- Implement Ericsson’s trade and customs strategy for the North Americas, supporting efficient and compliant import/export delivery processes.
- Continuously develop and lead a team of approximately 10 employees located in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
- Build and execute a roadmap to improve Trade Compliance operations across the regions.
- Benchmark trade and customs processes against leading regional industry practices.
- Develop and maintain Ericsson’s relationships with relevant governmental agencies in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
- Define and measure regional and global KPIs relevant for the operations.
- Build and maintain a strong Trade Compliance governance structure in the region.
- Collaborate with main stakeholders such as Supply, Sourcing, SAR, Finance and Legal to ensure strong visibility and fast decision‑making.
- Drive digitalization and continuous improvement to simplify day‑to‑day operations.
- Report to the global Head of Customs & Trade Operations and serve as a key member of the Trade Compliance leadership team.
- Relevant university degree in law, business administration, international trade, supply chain management, or a related field; an advanced degree (J.D. or LL.M.) is an advantage.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. customs rules, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), ITAR, and sanctions/restricted party requirements (OFAC).
- Extensive experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or international trade within a multinational or advisory environment, preferably across the Americas.
- Solid understanding of brokerage management, including documentation, entry filing, duty drawback, "first sale", bonded facilities, and recordkeeping.
- Working knowledge of trade compliance regulations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and key Latin American markets.
- Experience in handling FTA agreements such as USMCA.
- Working knowledge of CBP Reconciliation Program and refunds processes such as CAPE.
- Experience leading digital or automated change initiatives (trade compliance systems, dashboards, data analytics) is a strong plus.
- Proven project management and/or people management experience, with the ability to lead cross‑functional teams across countries and cultures.
- Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and build collaborative relationships across business units and geographies.
- Spanish language skills (spoken and written) preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits at Ericsson: salary range is determined by factors such as location and candidate qualifications. The role includes a short‑term variable compensation plan with an annual bonus based on performance.
