Occupational Therapist (OT) - School-Based | Multiple Locations

We're hiring Occupational Therapists (OTs) for school-based opportunities in multiple locations. In a school setting, Occupational Therapists (OTs) support students' ability to participate in the "occupations" of school, such as academics, social interaction, and self-care. They evaluate physical, sensory, and cognitive barriers and provide interventions like environmental modifications or specialized equipment to help students meet their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
This is a great opportunity for OTs who enjoy collaborating with educators and supporting students through meaningful, goal-driven interventions.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate student needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and functional participation
- Support students in meeting IEP goals through targeted OT services
- Recommend classroom strategies, environmental modifications, and adaptive equipment
- Provide individual and/or group therapy sessions
- Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and families
- Document progress and maintain compliance with school-based service requirements
Qualifications
- Graduate of an ACOTE-accredited OT program (Master's or Doctorate)
- Completion of required fieldwork/clinical rotations (typically 24 weeks)
- NBCOT certification and active OTR status
- Active state OT license (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to pass required school background screening
State Credential Requirements (Varies by Location)
- Colorado (CO): DORA (Board of OT);
To work in schools, you must also obtain a Special Services Provider (SSP) license from the Colorado Dept. of Education. - New Mexico (NM): NM Board of OT Requires a state license plus a Support Provider License from the NM Public Education Department.
- Texas (TX): TX Board of OT Examiners State OT license is required; practitioners must adhere to the TX OT Practice Act regarding school-based services
