Job SummaryResponsible to prepare and deliver coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to the college's core values, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. Meet professional standards for faculty in accordance with college policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Teach courses in accordance with the schedule of classes and follow the approved course descriptions and syllabi established by the Division faculty and administered by the associate dean/director.
- Teaching assignments may be on one or more of the college's campuses or off‑site locations and may include evening and weekend programs. Collin College is not hiring for online instruction at this time.
- May include Dual Credit courses.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with college policies, procedures and core values.
Sedentary work – occasionally exerting up to 10 pounds of force, or negligible force frequently, and constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. May involve talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking, repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.
RequirementsEducation: Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. Master’s degree in Computer Science preferred.
Industry
Experience:
Two (2) to three (3) years of software engineering experience, preferably involving real‑time systems, firmware, biomedical devices, network programming, machine learning, data engineering/analytics automation. Some SQL database development and/or data warehouse / ETL development.
Teaching
Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of experience teaching in a community college or advanced high school programming classes or relative industry experience.
Technical
Skills:
Solid foundation in C++/Java/C#, strong software engineering knowledge.
Preferred Technical
Skills:
HTML/CSS, SQL/database, cloud application development, solid foundation in Python.
