Character, Attendance, and Restorative Education Program Coordinator
Coordinate and oversee the implementation of the Character, Attendance, and Restorative Education Program. Design, model, and facilitate evidence-based strategies, interventions, and experiences aimed at fostering the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development of both staff and students. Oversee programs and initiatives that promote positive student character development, improve attendance rates, increase parent engagement and implement restorative practices in the school district.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
- Master's degree (preferred)
- Valid Texas teaching certificate
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, student support services, or related field, with a focus on parent engagement, student behavior, attendance, or restorative practices
- Extensive knowledge of evidence-based practices that promote inclusive, supportive learning environments and positive character development
- Ability to develop and maintain respectful, trusting professional relationships
- Willingness to execute a written employment contract with Plano ISD
Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design, implement, and evaluate character education programs that promote the Positive Character TEKS
- Design and provide professional development opportunities for staff to enhance the integration of character development into daily instruction
- Ensure schools develop strong, consistent systems to regularly review attendance data and plan targeted student interventions accordingly
- Coordinate and oversee the processes and procedures related to the Plano Attendance Review Board (PARB) that develop and implement intervention plans for chronically absent students, while collaborating with families to identify and address barriers to regular attendance
- Collaborate with school counselors, social workers, and administrators to provide support services for students and families that increase parent engagement
- Lead the implementation of restorative practices across the district, including restorative circles, peer mediation, and conflict resolution programs
- Build and maintain strong relationships with families, community organizations, and local partners to enhance character education and attendance initiatives
- Work closely with school administrators, counselors, and teachers to create a safe and inclusive learning climate
- Provide consultation and support to staff on handling attendance challenges, interpersonal issues, and restorative practices
- Collect, analyze and monitor data related to attendance, character education outcomes, and the effectiveness of restorative practices
- Identify and secure grants or other funding sources to support program goals and initiatives
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic reports, records, and other documents as required
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Keep informed of and comply with all state and district policies and regulations concerning primary job functions
- Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Plano ISD and follow directives from superiors
- Follow the attendance policy as assigned by the supervisor
- Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and/or supervisor
