Overview

Chess Wizards seeks enthusiastic, reliable instructors for our after‑school enrichment program in Plano, TX.

• Competitive Pay: $50–$60 per class (approximately 1 hour 30 minutes)

  1–5 classes per week, weekdays 2:00‑5:00 PM
• Travel Compensation:
  Mileage reimbursement for trips over 15 miles one way

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students
• Use structured curriculum to teach chess fundamentals and promote sportsmanship
• Manage classroom with confidence and positivity
• Encourage problem‑solving, creativity, and critical thinking
• Follow school safety protocols, including supervision during arrival, dismissal, and in‑class activities
• Travel to local school sites for each session
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students

• Experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar)
• Comfortable leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, fun sessions
• Professional, positive, kid‑friendly demeanor
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals; ability to explain piece movement, basic strategy, and simple tactics in an age‑appropriate way
• Ability to connect chess problem‑solving to real‑life problem‑solving
• Reliable personal transportation and ability to drive between locations
• Availability on weekday afternoons, 2:00‑5:00 PM, for 1–5 classes per week
• Commitment to school safety protocols and strict adherence to safety and school policies
• Strong punctuality and time‑management skills

• Resume detailing relevant experience with children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings
• Questionnaire covering interest in the role, experience working with children, and qualifications to teach chess

This position is based in Plano, TX. Relocation assistance is not provided. Candidates must currently reside in the area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
